Tiled Swimming Pool Installation Guide for Pool Renovations

Standard Kit Thickness 85mm

Pre Installation Notes:

We provide chamfered wedge shaped insulation boards for the top of the swimming pool; this allows you to use the existing coping stones and liner lock without the need for any modification to them.

There are two options to insulating around existing fittings like inlets, lights, sumps, drains and vacuum points, the preferable method is to extend the fittings so they are flush with the new insulated finish, alternatively we can provide chamfered insulation panels.

With Automatic underwater swimming pool covers, the cover pit should also be fully.

Existing concrete steps should be insulated in the same fashion as the rest of the swimming pool.

When installing Swimming Pool Hand Rails or Steps/swimming Pool Ladders/Automatic Underwater Covers, where they are to be attached cut out the insulation and then refill with concrete and render as normal.

Starting at the bottom of the swimming pool walls apply the insulation panels in a brick bond fashion with insulation lines running horizontally along the swimming pool walls and floor using  Thermapool Insulation adhesive.

Radius corners are insulated using Thermapool Insulation boards.

Brief Guide:

Acid clean existing swimming pool, ensure tiles and render is still sound and well bonded

Paint apply the Thermapool Priming Liquid.

Starting at the bottom of the swimming pool walls apply the insulation panels in a brick bond fashion with insulation lines running horizontally along the swimming pool walls and floor using Thermapool Insulation adhesive to the existing swimming pool tiles.

Before applying the render coat each of the boards should be checked to confirm they have adhered correctly and that all grooves are clean and free from any dirt or dust.

Apply a coat of Thermapool Insulation Render on to the insulation, whilst wet lay the Thermapool Reinforcing Mesh into the render and finish,  when dry apply one coat of Thermapool Priming Liquid using a roller.

By using a chamfered wedge shaped insulation board for the top of the swimming pool; this allows you to use the existing coping stones and liner lock without the need for any modification to them.

Only use Thermapool tile adhesive and grout when applying tiles.

Apply your chosen tiles.

The cover pit should also be fully insulated on all sides.

We recommend all pipework be insulated with Thermapool Boards and that all swimming pools using Thermapool have a site drainage solution installed into the soil prior to the swimming pool construction taking place.
